Bridges of London

Sally Galloghly organised a Bridges of London sponsored walk in memory of her nephew in June 2008 and raised an incredible £612.50.  Read her account of the day.

My walk

On the 24th of March this year my nephew Charlie Galloghly of five and half months died of cot death. This has been a very sad time for my family and me.

I decided that I wanted to make people more aware of cot death and the effect that it has on the people around them. We may never know why Charlie has been taken from us, but I want to give something towards research for finding a cause.

We did a sponsored fancy dress walk on the 15th June across the bridges of the Thames from Tower to Waterloo Bridge. We all had a fantastic day and raised £612.50. We hope that this can be put to good use into research.

I want to thank my dad, my nephew Joe (Charlie’s brother), Amy, Kaylie, Eva, Kirstie and Maggie (my tutor) for participating in this event. I also want to thank everyone who gave us money or helped us raise money.

FSID would like to thank Sally and her team for organising such an orginal event in memory of Charlie, and for raising vital funds for research into sudden infant death.
