Angela Perry is a cot death mother and FSID’s Vice Chair. Here she explains why she decided to include FSID in her Will.
None of us really wants to think about dying. But, as many of us know, life has a way of dealing out the unexpected. It is so easy to put the task of making a Will "on the back-burner". But by doing this, we can cause great difficulties for our families.
My daughter, Victoria, died suddenly in 1982 at the age of four months. Had she not predeceased me, I would have left her a share of my estate equal to that of her siblings. I now intend FSID to receive Victoria’s share, so that her legacy will help continue work which impacts so profoundly on the well-being of every one of the 650,000 babies born annually throughout the UK.
Gifts left in Wills now form an increasingly important source of income for charities. These might range from a few hundred pounds – the residue of an estate, for example, once the main provisions of the Will have been fulfilled – to over £1 million. Large or small, all play a vital role in supporting FSID’s future activities.
When planning your Will, please join me in remembering FSID. By so doing, you will be helping to give future generations the greatest of gifts – the chance of a lifetime.
