The New York Marathon

The New York Marathon

The next New York Marathon will take place on 1st November 2009.

Why New York?

There are few experiences like running the ING New York City Marathon. With five bridges, five boroughs and two million spectators lining the course, this is an event that you most definitely should not miss.

From the buzz of the early morning arrival by bus on Staten Island where 35,000 runners nervously wait for the start, to the finish in Central Park, your emotions work overtime as you take in the sights and sounds of one of the world’s most vibrant cities. Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and then the streets of Manhattan take you on a running journey like no other.

How to run for FSID

We do not possess places in this race, but we encourage you to acquire your own place and then just raise what you can in sponsorship for us.

There are two basic packages. You cannot buy a place for the race on its own, you have to buy it in a package with flights or in a package with flights and accommodation.

The basic race entry and flights package costs £799 per person. To secure your place you must pay the race entry fee (£212) and a deposit of £200 up front. You can then settle the rest of the amount (£412) up to 10 weeks before race day.

Alternatively, hotel packages start at £995 for three nights accommodation, exclusive of the £212 race entry fee.

If you prefer to go with the basic package and source your own accommodation click here for an exhaustive list of hotels.

Fundraising for FSID
Once you have signed up all you need to do is inform us that you have a place. We will then send you a fundraising pack and running vest, and you can get going raising as much money as you can.

We would advise you to sign up as soon as possible for the event, to enable you to have enough time to get stuck into your fundraising and training. A year is an ideal amount of time.

We will then be on hand to support you from then on until race day with fundraising and training advice and to answer your queries.

If you have any questions about this process call Fundraising on 020 7222 8003 or email challenge@fsid.org.uk .

Now's your chance to push yourself to the limit and help us continue our lifesaving work to bring an end to cot death once and for all.
