Truro college sponsored walk

In January of this year, kindhearted students from Truro College raised money for FSID during a 5km sponsored walk from the Packet Station Pub on Falmouth Moor around the coast to Pendennis Point and back again through town.

The students, who are all studying for a National Diploma in Health and Care Studies, raised a total of £207.16 to buy a baby breathing monitor for FSID’s CONI (Care of Next Infant) initiative, having decided to support the programme after a recent talk on the subject of cot death as part of their course.

Brittany Parker, Melissa Douch, Charlotte Pinnock, Eli Snell, Hannah Powley, Miriam Man and Hannah Bastin, who were accompanied by teachers Tony Patnick and Elizabeth Phillips, were sponsored to do the walk by friends and family as well as collecting money along the way. The money was collected by FSID Regional Development Officer Carrie Langford who also gave a talk, and the students were able to present the monitor to local consultant community paediatrician, Dr John Lewis, in June.

Their teacher Tony Patnick said:

“The girls from the National Diploma in Health Studies worked tremendously hard to get the money in from sponsorship and collections. They were helped out by having the only fine sunny day so far this year to walk around Falmouth!”

FSID would like to thank all the students and teachers from Truro who took part for their support to our cause.
